Finding a home exterior contractor involves choosing a provider that can take care of your property and clearly explain the work. At P&L Enterprises, we deliver exterior remodeling services in the Southeast, including repairs, siding, roofing, and gutters.

The exterior contractor FAQs below detail project materials, processes, and warranty information to help you make informed decisions.

P&L Enterprises and Coverage

How long has P&L Enterprises been in operation?

P&L Enterprises was established in 1997, bringing over 25 years of experience. Initially, we started as a one-man band and eventually expanded into a family-owned business, managing residential and production-builder projects and coordinating siding, roofing, and gutters under a single contract. With hands-on leadership, our team has worked on over 45,000 projects.

Where does P&L Enterprises work?

We currently serve eight active markets across four states: Greenville, Columbia, Charleston, Florence, and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina; Charlotte in North Carolina; Atlanta in Georgia; and Nashville in Tennessee. Our offices are located in Taylors (Greenville), Columbia, metro Atlanta, Charlotte, and Nashville.

Roofing FAQs

What types of roofing materials does P&L Enterprises provide, and do you ever roof over old shingles?

Our team works with high-performance residential metal roofing, as well as IKO Cambridge®, Dynasty®, and GAF Timberline HDZ® architectural shingles. We tear off the existing roofing shingles to carefully inspect the roof deck before laying new shingles.

Weigh the pros and cons of roofing materials in more detail and explore our full roof replacement process to know what you can expect from the project.

Can P&L Enterprises offer assistance with storm damage claims?

Yes. We can help with your storm damage claim by providing clear documentation of the repair work and meeting with the adjuster. Our team conducts a thorough evaluation of your home, including gutters, siding, roofing, and home exterior accents, for you to send to an insurance provider.

It’s important to note that we can help with contractor assistance, not public adjusting services. Plus, we’re unable to act as a public adjuster, guarantee coverage, and approve claims on the insurer's behalf. Discover more about our residential storm damage restoration services.

Does P&L Enterprises pull the roofing permit?

Yes, we can pull the necessary permits for roofing projects, so you may only need to sign and approve documentation. Our team has a strong knowledge of inspection standards, permit processes, and local building requirements in your area.

Siding FAQs

What siding materials does P&L Enterprises offer?

At P&L Enterprises, we install James Hardie® siding, as well as vinyl siding from Alside, Mastic, and CertainTeed. We work with suppliers such as Richards Building Supply and QXO, and siding materials can differ in cost, maintenance needs, and appearance. Plus, we install exterior accessories including gable vents, column and beam wraps, screen porches, soffit and fascia, and decorative trim.

How long do siding materials typically last?

Siding lifespan generally depends on exposure to Southeast heat and humidity, installation and material quality, and maintenance upkeep. Warranty conditions can also differ between manufacturers:

  • Vinyl siding: Typically, this type of siding can last between 30 and 40 years in Southeast conditions. Manufacturers like CertainTeed offer multi-decade or lifetime warranties on eligible products.
  • James Hardie fiber cement: These fiber cement siding products are backed by a 30-year limited warranty. ColorPlus® finishes carry a separate 15-year limited finish warranty. HardieTrim® boards also come with a 15-year warranty.
  • Engineered wood: LP SmartSide® may last between 40 and 50 years, and offers a prorated 50-year limited warranty, subject to LP’s finishing, installation, and maintenance requirements.
  • Cedar siding: Cedar can last approximately 20-40 years, depending on exposure and staining or painting frequency.
  • Aluminum soffit and fascia: These components can last approximately 30-40 years, depending on conditions and maintenance.
What if there is water damage or rot behind my old siding material?

Our siding contractors address water damage or rot before installing the new siding. The required repair work typically depends on the extent of the damage and where it is. Our service and repair division can thoroughly review the affected components to determine the suitable siding repair methods.

Gutters FAQs

What gutter sizes and styles does P&L Enterprises install?

We install aluminum K-style gutters on-site in 5-, 6-, and 7-inch configurations. Typically, we recommend six-inch gutters. However, half-round gutters are also available to meet specific project requirements. Standard downspout sizes are 2 × 3 or 3 × 4 inches, with 4-inch round and 4 × 5-inch options for higher-volume roofs. Our finishes include copper, white, pre-primed, and pre-painted.

Do you provide gutter guards, and how do you pick the right type?

Yes. Our team recommends gutter guards based on factors such as your roof pitch and tree cover, rather than recommending a single type for all homes. The gutter guard types we offer include snap-lock and hinged guards, drop-in aluminum screens, and stainless steel micro-mesh.

Warranty and Service

Are there warranties that cover P&L Enterprises’ workmanship?

Yes. We provide a one-year workmanship warranty, and you'll receive manufacturer warranties to handle directly with the manufacturer. Warranty coverage does generally differ between manufacturers. Our team is available to support you with any questions you have regarding general knowledge, product specifications, and services. Our support continues after installation through workmanship coverage and a dedicated service division.

What is the typical response time for service calls?

Our typical response time for service calls is within 24 hours, and we schedule repair work at our earliest convenience. We aim to maintain a maximum turnaround window of 72 hours.

Differentiators and Process

What can I expect throughout the project process?

At P&L Enterprises, we coordinate each stage of your project, offering personalized support from initial inquiry through to the final cleanup. The project process starts with your initial inquiry, either by phone or by sending us a message, and scheduling your estimate appointment. Once the evaluation is complete, we’ll start pulling the permits and executing the installation.

The installation is overseen by field management to help monitor safety and protect your property and landscaping. Once installation is complete, our team thoroughly cleans up. We continue to support you with any questions you have after installation.

You may also be eligible for project financing to help spread the cost. Fill out our financing inquiry form. We'll then send you an application upon request, and if your application is approved, the financier will send us confirmation.

Why should I hire P&L Enterprises rather than a single-trade contractor?

You should hire the P&L Enterprises crew because we coordinate roofing, siding, and gutter work under a single contract, providing a single point of contact. With over 25 years of production-builder and multi-trade experience, we provide skilled installers who align with HOA, builder, or architectural standards across property types, including multi-resident buildings.
